Well, tonight is the last in Hoi An, as 0730 tomorrow will find this old boy on a bus bound for Hue. This morning's rain has tempered the 100F (37+ C) of the past two days. I have been walking and walking all through the streets of Hoi An...a good workout in this heat and humidity. I might now hang closer to the hotel for a few hours. Vy's Tailor Shop is supposed to arrive soon with my two pairs of "custom" shorts. Then, later this afternoon, I must stroll down the street to pickup my laundry, which was dropped off last eve...$1.50.
Hey, I'm now cured of everything via my feet!
But, it's good thing that they didn't have to endure my "infantry feet" from 1968.
Here is a nice pagoda that I happened by yesterday.

Thong, aka Damn Guide, stopped at the hotel early this morning, just after I had finished eating at the breakfast buffet. I'm always the first to arrive at 0630. ahead of the crowd. Anyway, Thong is working as a guide today, but had a break while his clients were on a water buffalo cart trip or some such thing. My infantry comrades will recall that these critters had no love for GI's. (Sidenote: The plural of GI is GI's or GIs...either is correct.)
Dinner last night was at a little nearby baguette stand. These baguette sandwiches are very popular throughout Vietnam, with each stand producing a different version. Cost is usually $ .88.
It appears that the rain has subsided, so maybe I'll venture out soon after my shorts arrive. Nothing like sitting around waiting for your shorts. I've already paid half, so they better show up. Would hate to lose my shorts. As mentioned, Hoi An is the silk/tailoring center for all of Vietnam.
OK, tomorrow I saddle up and push north...working my way to the DMZ.
Neil
